It is thing that looks most like the tank. Perhaps the only thing that links the “White Tiger” to the real life Tiger is the turret. Its first appearance is mired by fog to make it almost spectral. The tank is, in essence, a fantasy version of the Tiger – supposedly much more deadly than the real thing. The protagonist does not even believe it is operated by a crew, but rather a ghost of war. Throughout the film it is treated as a mythical being. The theory was that this tank was so strange looking, like a child’s fantasy of a Tiger, that it simply had to be intentional. I had a theory about the film, and the reason they chose to use this as their Tiger, despite their replicas of other vehicles being, for the most part, accurate. It looks absolutely nothing like a Tiger I, nor perhaps any tank in existence. The problem, it would seem, is that hull. It would resemble, at a push, the Porsche Tiger I that did not leave the prototype phase. I know the first instinct is to cry that looks nothing like a Tiger! And you would be right. So why is it in a post dedicated to tanks that exist only in fantasy? The reason should become apparent after seeing this. Using mostly stills taken from the film, I am going to attempt to analyse some of the vehicle’s characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses.Ī Tiger tank, is of course real. This tank, he comes to believe, is the unbeatable German panzer known only as the White Tiger. He miraculously survives and vows to take revenge on the tank that nearly killed him. The story of the film follows a Soviet tank driver in the Second World War who is found covered with 90% burns. (This is the second instalment of the series.
